Heads of School are kindly asked to inform teachers of English that as from this scholastic year, the text and instructions (Teacher’s Paper) in the Annual English Listening Examination for all levels in Year 11 will be recorded and sent to schools by the Educational Assessment Unit.

Letter Circular DLAP 144 - Recording of Learning Outcomes for second scholastic term
The ticking of broad learning outcomes according to the achievement of the students for work conducted in class, at home or a combination of both, provides students and parents with information about the progress achieved during the scholastic year. It is expected that this information will support further learning and raise the engagement and achievement levels of the students.

The Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes (DLAP) is providing guidelines for the setting of classes in English, Maltese and Mathematics in Years 8 & 9 (Forms 2 & 3), taking into consideration the standardised scores of the Annual Examination in Year 7 and 8 (Forms 1 and 2). Letter Circular DCM 047 - Inputting Half-Yearly and Annual Examination Results in the e1 template
Kindly note that the Letter Circular gives an example of the equation all teachers teaching CCP in different subjects need to use.
The weighting the assessment and exam carry differ according to subject.
Therefore, for English when calculating the CCP marks, teachers are to give 60% weighting to the assessment mark and 40% weighting to the summative exam, as agreed.

Annual English Listening Examination June 2017 – Year 7 and Year 8
As from this scholastic year, the text and instructions (Teacher’s Paper) in the Annual English Listening Examination for all levels in Year 7 and Year 8 will be recorded and sent to schools by the Educational Assessment Unit.

Schools are to ensure beforehand that the necessary electronic equipment is fully functional in every classroom and that teachers are familiar with its operation. If, on the day, the audio file or the equipment do not function, the school should make use of the transcript provided by the Educational Assessment Unit.
