Patchwork 2022 magazine
To help you enjoy the benefits of reading, the English Department at St Clare College Pembroke Secondary is proud to present this year’s Patchwork, the magazine in which you can find a collection of writings in English penned by students from all our year groups.
This year’s edition includes some excellent and thought-provoking poems written by the talented poets at our school. There are also some imaginative and well-written short stories. A section we introduced last year and reappears this year is the Literature Essays section where you can find essays on works studied in Year 10 and Year 11. These model essays will be useful, especially when preparing for your SEC Literature exam. A new section is one dedicated to book reviews which will hopefully tempt you to read one of the recommended texts. A recurring section is that dedicated to articles and write-ups on a range of topics. This year, they vary from the future job aspirations of some year 7s, to the pros and cons of having a mobile phone, and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The final section is dedicated to the four students who won a prestigious award for their participation in The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition in 2021. You have all made us so proud of you!
